                    O2 GERMANY RECORDS 10 MILLION CUSTOMERS

O2 Germany continued on its strong growth course with news today that it now has
more than 10 million customers. This comes two months after O2 Germany confirmed
it remained the fastest growing German operator - something it had done for 17
consecutive quarters.

In the three months to the end of December 2005, O2 Germany increased its
customer base by 823,000, comprising a mix of contract and pre-pay subscribers.
Around 75% of the 278,000 new contract customers added in that period opted for
O2 Germany's market leading Genion service, which brought the total number of
Genion subscribers to 3.6 million.

Since its launch in 1999, Genion has fuelled O2 Germany's growth by being the
first credible mobile alternative to fixed-line services, offering competitive
rates and in-depth network coverage in and around the home or work campus. 20%
of O2 Genion customers today no longer have a fixed line connection, attracted
in particular to Genion's new flat rate tariff, available since September 2005.

Rudolf Groger, chief executive officer of O2 Germany, said: 'We are among the
few companies in Germany where strong growth is not suppressing our
profitability. Our aim is to keep on this course of growth and profitability by
expanding our business model and transforming ourselves from a pure mobile
network operator into a fixed and mobile communication services provider. We
will achieve this by entering the broadband Internet services market and
eventually offering a combination of mobile and ADSL products.'


O2

integrated fixed/mobile businesses in Germany, the Czech Republic (Cesky
Telecom) and the Isle of Man (Manx Telecom).  It also owns 50% of the Tesco
Mobile and Tchibo Mobilfunk joint venture businesses in the UK and Germany
respectively. In addition, the group includes O2 Airwave, which supplies secure
digital communications to the emergency services and other public safety
organisations.
